Today I did the Rooster Tails fishing Derby at Collins LK. Member Al Sweeny gave me a ride on his 14 ft Crestliner. We launched at 6:10 am and started trolling right from the ramp. We trolled in front of the Ramp, the Dam and also in front of the swim beach. We found that we had a pretty short bite. The bite went from 8:30 till 10:30 am. We ended up wth 6 rainbow that went 14,16,14 1/2,14 1/2,16 1/2 and 14 inches. Al ended up with only 1 fish which he got on a blue/ silver Little Cleo. I ended up with my limit on a blue/ silver Excell spoon. I ran nearly every Draggon I had to no prevail. I also ran a ton of spinner bugs w/ worms for zippo. The best depth turned out to be 35 ft with a 80 ft set back. I also got two fish on leadcore (6 colors) that was ran straight behind the boat with the same spoon. The best speed was around 1.5 to 1.7 mph. No scent.

Stats- Air Temp- L-53* H- 73*, water temp 74.2*, water level- full, clarity 13 ft, Skies- mostly clounds with early fog, Prcipitation 0, wind SSW- 6-8 mph. Hrs fished 6:14 till 12:55 pm.

The deby was a length derby. Two fish only for check in and the combined length of the two fish. Who ever got closest to 39 inches wins. My 16 inch and 16 1/2 incher turned out to be good for a 2nd place win. :D

Is this really the end of June?? It was cold and windy.

I agree Rich. I thought for sure they would be all over my Draggons. I think that weird low pressure had alot to do with the picky bite.
