After getting home from the derby I put away the kok gear and loaded my salmon gear. My friend Allen invited me to Salmon fish with him out of Santa Cruz. So after loading my salmon gear I was off to Santa Cruz. I arrived a little after 10:30 pm and set up a cot in the boat ramp parking lot.

Saturday 4-23,

Elk Hunter arrived along with Fort Bragger and Freon. We launched his beauttifull 21ft Duckworth Navigator at 5:31 am. Allen got word that the bite was 22 miles N. off Davenport. We arrived after a bumpy ride ( mixed swell) and had lines in at 7:16 am. Ben was first up with a 10.11 lb king. The fish was caught on a red/chrome Hot Spot and a blue/orange hoochie and at 110 ft otw. James was next with a 11.6lb king. His was at 110 ft and on a 8'' red/chrome Hot Spot with a pink/purple hoochie. I was next and got a 6.9 lb king and mine was at 140 ft and was on a orange/ chrome H.P. with a blue/ white hoochie. Last up was Allen with a 12.3 lb king. His was on a blue/silver Sling Blade and a blue/white hoochie. His was caught at 220ft. We ended up with four kings. Best speed was 2.5 mph, there was no real best depth. setbacks where 15ft. Scents where krill Gell and anchovie gell.

Stats- Air Temp- H-63* L- 46*, water temp 53.1*, clarity 7ft, skies- overcast, wind 0-5 mph then 10-15 mph.
